Rescued

This originally was a drawing which became so overworked that I had to do something definite and decisive as I was getting lost in it, so I cut a few shapes out of it and arranged them on a piece of cardboard.  This is a further development of the seagrass theme, the cardboard is packaging from Ikea, it represents industry and consumerism which produces the pollution that is destroying the seagrass on our local beaches.

Seagrass Drawings

Here are a few drawing experiments using oil medium under gouache wash.  They are of three types of seagrasses found off our local beaches.

Wonderland

Medium:  charcoal, pastels, ink, collage, acrylic crayon, gouache
This is my final piece for a drawing project exploring elipses and how to use them to construct shapes and objects that are convincingly 3D.
I may have bitten off more than I could chew, I tried to stretch it as far as I could, lots of experimental stuff here, imaginary objects - I tried to show movement and combine objects that were machinery-like with objects that looked soft and 'blobby', a mixture of my two previous work up drawings for this project.
This drawing is 3 x A1 pieces of paper taped together.

Diary Drawing

This is a quick sketch done on my train trip today recording events of the day and the things I was thinking about (and the things I ate).  I do this on most train trips but today, after I had finished it, I could picture the drawing I did on 4th May last year and therefore remembered what I was thinking about exactly a year ago.  I've never been good at keeping a diary but this is much more fun.

Pumpkin Red, Yellow & Black version 2

I tried the pumpkin again but this time with cool yellow and red (light yellow and crimson alizarin) and black.  Light yellow has very little opacity so adding the tiniest bit of crimson or black changed it drastically.  For the light tone areas I had to use lots of yellow so it ended up looking a bit 'fluro'.  They've been worth the exercise in terms of learning and experience in colour mixing.  I've had enough of the pumpkin now, next I'll cook it.
